ZemTV Kodi Addon Developer to Give $650,000 For Piracy Damages Story

The very last year, American Satellite and broadcast provider Dish Network grabbed two famous players in the Kodi add-on system.

Further, in a complaint filed straight in the federal court of Texas, people behind the ZemTV Addon and TV Add-ons were accused of copyright infringement.

After which, following a settlement, the company Dish Network took away its lawsuit against the TVAddons developer Adam Lackman.

However, the ZemTV developer Shahjahan Durrani is still at risk for copyright infringement.

Here, the Kodi-Addon programmer was planning to defend against the crime. But, as per the US District court’s decision, he was found violating copyright law.

A Word of Mouth By Judge Gilmore

“Defendant developed ZemTV and then distributed and supported it through [.TVAddons..], resulting in his unauthorized retransmission of the Protected Channels and causing injury to Plaintiff throughout the United States. Therefore, Defendant is liable for direct copyright infringement,” Judge Gilmore wrote.

Previously, the Dish network argued with the ZemTV’s piracy activities and asked for a recovery of $150,000 per pirate work.

Hence, the same was a huge amount of money and Shani’s company could come under great setback.

But, as per the judge is taken into consideration, he doesn’t want to go too far. Instead, he is telling to pay one-third of the amount which becomes $650,000.

Now, out of the entire debate, a negative outcome was not a surety as the developers didn’t defend himself.

In addition, Shani has been banned to distribute ZemTV or another type of add-ons in the future too.

On the other hand, TorrentFreak too reached out to Shani and said that the Dish Network will win this case.

Since his external sources which were a part of add-on are still online, Dish Network clearly wins at all cost.

However, as per Shani, the Dish Network are powerful and they didn’t lose any money. Further, the Zem Addon is still unmaintained which is the reason, it will not work.

In addition, based on the complaints by Dish Network, their subscriptions will gradually increase in the upcoming years, said Shani.

Wrapping Things Up: ZemTV Kodi Addon Developer to Give $650,000 For Piracy Damages Story

Well, whether the Dish Network will recoup the damages, we will still have to wait and watch.

However, the ZemTV developer gave up on the legal fight because he didn’t have enough funds. Hence, it will become unlikely that he can pay complete $650,000.

Finally, the default judgment wraps up in the favour of the Dish Network and as far as the ZemTV issue goes, they will need some time to recover from such a major issue.
