How Can a VPN Help You?
True Detective airs on HBO Go and Now, both of which are unavailable outside the US. But, that doesn’t mean viewers outside the US can’t access any of these services abroad. With the right VPN, they can stream all the content they want from anywhere around the world.
What a VPN or Virtual Private Network would do is connect your device to one of its own servers based in the country of your choice. Your internet connection gets rerouted through that chosen server; giving you the IP address of the state where the VPN server you connected to is located. Then, you will be able to access all of that country’s content as if you are physically located in it. Here is what you need to unblock HBO Go or Now outside the US.
- Subscribe to a credible VPN provider.
- Download & install the VPN app on your streaming device.
- Launch the VPN app & sign in using your VPN account.
- Now, connect to a server located in the US.
- Now, you have an American IP address.
- Enjoy watching True Detective from anywhere in the world.

About True Detective
True Detective is an anthology series in which police investigations uncover the personal & professional secrets of those involved within and outside the law. Much similar to the first two seasons of True Detective, its third season will run for eight episodes. Series maker Nic Pizzolatto is writing all eight, though Deadwood creator David Milch has a co-writing credit on episode four. Also, Pizzolatto is making his directorial debut in season three; with Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room) directing two episodes as well.
While season one characters Rust Cohle and Marty Hart aren’t going to return due to True Detective’s status as an anthology, season one stars Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson are executive producers for season three and so is season one director Fukunaga. Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Rhys Wakefield, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn, and Michael Graziadei will also be part of the season, though details about their characters have not yet been announced.
