Further, the memorandum was signed by different companies such as National Media Group, Channel one, Gazprom-Media, the Internet Video Association, Rambler group, Yandex, Mail.Ru Group and the RuTube.

Now, since the agreement has got a broader support, the Russian companies were not present during the initial signing.

“I ask you to assist in organizing the signing of a memorandum with the Internet Copyright Association [AZAPI] representing the interests of most major Russian publishing houses. Direct communications between the Internet Copyright Association (AZAPI) and Roskomnadzor will remove links from search engines issued on the basis of a constructive dialogue, without waiting for the adoption of the law to develop an optimal test model. the letter reads.

Now, as per the validity of the memorandum, it will remain valid until September 1, 2019. Since then, different signatories are expecting the new copyright legislation to come into place.

In the recent months, Yandex is putting immense pressure to deal somehow with pirated content. Here, their focus is on search results and the basic aim is to remove pirate content directly from the search results.

Hence, as of now, publishing giants are after pirate sites. And are looking to block every copyright infringement content, as soon as possible.
