WWE SummerSlam 2019 – What You Need to Know

It’s not Wrestlemania, but it’s WWE’s next big thing. You’ll find out that I’m right once you take a look at the matches this event has in stores for us. I’ve talked a bit about some of the bigger matches on the card. After that, you can check my predictions and the full official card of the event.

Seth Rollins VS. Brock Lesnar

Back at Extreme Rules, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch managed to overcome Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in an all or nothing mixed tag-match. However, before Seth was able to celebrate his successful title defense, the Beast’s music hit the arena. Unfortunately, for Rollins, Brock Lesnar came down to the ringing holding his Money in the Bank Briefcase. Now, the so-called Beast Slayer is strapless. The night after, Seth won a 10-Man Battle Royal to become the Beast’s challenger for the title.

If you’ve seen the last couple of Raws, you should know that Rollins is not 100% to compete. That’s due to Brock Lesnar’s vicious beating over two nights. Last Monday, Rollins asked for it by limping to the ring with a chair in hand. It didn’t take Brock much to dismantle the number one contender. But Seth managed to get up, grab the mic, and tell everybody that he’s going to SummerSlam no matter what his condition might be. Can Seth “Freakin” Rollins do it again? Can he manage to escape Suplex City once more with the Universal Championship on his shoulder? Let’s wait and see.

Kofi Kingston VS. Randy Orton

While the land of opportunity always uses its wrestler’s skills to determine a future title challenger, this time, Smackdown took a faster route. After a successful title defense, WWE offered Kofi Kingston to choose his own challenger for the Biggest Party of the Summer. Well, your champion might seem small, but he’s not one to back down from a big challenge. Kofi wasted no time and called out an old-time rival, none other than the Viper, Randy Orton.

What’s grand about this feud is that it all goes back to 2009. WWE left us with loose ends back then, but now, they’re firmly tying up everything that went down that year. This will definitely make a good show, great match, and a fantastic main event if the Universal title match doesn’t get that spot.

Aj Styles VS. Ricochet

If you haven’t seen the bouts between these two, you’ve seen nothing yet. Two of the greatest performers of this generationhave been at it for quite some time now. No one ever thought that Ricochet could get one on the Champ that Built this Camp. However, after Ricochet pinned Samoa Joe for the United States title, Styles was able to snatch the belt courtesy of the OC.

AJ Styles is one of the best superstars in WWE now. Ricochet looked up to him until he turned heel and rejoined The Club once more. Now, Ricochet is getting a taste of what John Cena used to get a couple of years ago. Ricochet’s title reign lasted for 21 days. But that didn’t stop him. He got his rematch after emerging victorious from a gauntlet match on Raw. In my opinion, no matter what the main event is, this match has a show-stealing potential if it gets the proper amount of time.

Becky Lynch VS. Natalya

It’s finally done. We got rid of the repeated matches against Lacey Evans. To be honest, it was becoming a bit boring, but thanks to Natalya, WWE broke the on-going chain of events. A couple of weeks ago, Raw held a fatal 4-way elimination match to determine Becky’s challenger at SummerSlam. Natalya went on and won the match to become the new number one contender for the Raw Women’s title. However, this match cost a bit more than Natalya’s hard work; it cost the Queen of Harts her friendship with Becky Lynch.

After the match, Natalya had some words with her “ex-friend.” The two have been getting at it since then every week on Raw. Last Monday, Natalya forced the referee to disqualify her after refusing to break her Sharpshooter on Lynch. Even Trish Stratus couldn’t get Natalya to let go. Once the match was over, Michael Cole revealed that the showdown at SummerSlam would be a Submission Match. In other words, Disarm-her vs. Sharpshooter. Who do you think will come up on top? Will Becky Lynch suffer the same fate as her boyfriend did back at Extreme Rules? Only time will tell.

Goldberg VS. Dolph Ziggler

Two weeks ago, Dolph Ziggler super-kicked Shawn Michaels in the middle of the ring while setting off his feud with The Miz. That’s after he trash-talked the match between Goldberg and the Undertaker that occurred at Super Show-Down. A week later, which is the past Monday night Raw, Dolph was a guest on MizTV with Michaels. It was supposed to be a contract signing to their match at SummerSlam.

Once Ziggler signed the contract, Miz revealed that he’s going to face off against him Raw. It was kind of a shock for Ziggler. He then looked at Shawn Michaels presuming that he will face him at the Second Grandest Stage of them All. However, Shawn declared that he’s not as well. After a few seconds of silence, Goldberg‘s music hit the stage, and the legendary wrestler approached the ring. Dolph fleed the campus and the night ended with Goldberg saying: Kid, you’re next!.

Bray Wyatt VS. Finn Balor

After months of clips on both Raw and Smackdown, Bray Wyatt finally emerged after a long-awaited return. Who was his target? Well, it’s none other than Finn Balor. Finn issued a challenge to the Fiend later on. After that, Wyatt accepted the challenge on behalf of his demonic alter-ego during Firefly Funhouse. But Wyatt didn’t stop there.

On the reunion episode of Raw, The Fiend attacked the legendary Mick Foley while he was addressing the WWE Universe. Moreover, Bray attacked Kurt Angle while he was the guest referee last night on Raw. If you don’t know this, Finn Balor also has an alter-ego that has never lost a match at WWE. You can’t tell what the will occur when WWE gets its hands on a specific script. We might finally see The Fiend hand Balor’s respective alter-ego the first loss. What do you think?
