Andy Rubin, the creator and mastermind of Google’s Android; a mobile operating system, was already eager to be back in the mobile phone manufacturing industry with a bang after leaving his job at Google. Rubin had already triggered a competition for its rivals Samsung, Google Pixel, iPhone by tweeting a teaser picture of his upcoming Essential Phone back in March 2017.

After that, there were not many talks about the Essential phone and the silence can be deliberate. Andy Rubin, when left Google, created his own company names ”Essential” which is a hardware company working on mobile and smart home devices for consumers. The news was grabbed attention when a Russian site, Mobiletelefon brought a news on the surface of a device testing by Geekbench dating back to December 2016 with a code name of ”Essential FIH-PM1.” As Essential is the name of Andy Rubin’s company and FIH might refer to Foxconn International Holdings (a possible factory where the phone is being made), tech experts and speculators think that the Geekbench test may be of Rubin’s mysterious Essential phone (secure your Android use the best VPN for Android for online privacy and security). The results give us a hint at some of the phone’s specs which we have leaked here for you to grab an early view on Rubin’s Essential Phone (or maybe we are wrong).

By far we’ve heard that the Essential phone will feature bezel-less design as o Samsung Galaxy S8 (see Samsung Galaxy S8 preview) and LG G6. It’s also been said on some sites that Essential is testing features like magnetic add-on accessories (like the Moto Z) and a pressure sensitive display, according to Bloomberg. The speculate cost is about the same as the iPhone 7, which starts at $649/£599/AU$1,079.

But the Geekbench benchmarks throws a further picture of what specs Essential phone may have, not in detail though it is so early to say but some of the core features would be:

    • Android Nougat OS
    • 5.5-inch 2,560×1,312-resolution display, with a near 2:1 aspect ration like the LG G6.
    • Octa-core Qualcomm processor @2.2GHz, and Adreno 540 GPU.
    • 4GB RAM
    • 4K photo and video
    • NFC compatibility
